While sorting out my storage closet I came across the little gold easel and that sent me off on creating a new look for my entryway chest.
I was looking for a new spot to put the orchid and this turned out to be a winner!
This gold finished metal easel could hold a larger picture but I kind of like this little picture seated in it.
I went downstairs to look for this lamp. It’s been a while since I’ve used it. It was a find at a store that was closing in Grand Rapids back in 2010.
With some evening glow...
Did I mention how much I love this picture! Such a sweet portrait of a child with his dog. I did some research on it and it is by Arthur William Devis, titled Master James Alexander Simpson. I did recently find some on Ebay which is where I found mine.
This my favorite kind of fun with decorating- putting things together in different ways for a whole new look!

This is so beautiful, Liz. I love a chest of drawers in the entry. It makes so much sense! The way you've styled yours is perfectly timeless. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how we re-discover our beautiful treasures! I love how you've put yours together!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, I love that chest and that mirror.
ReplyDeleteI have always admired your chest of drawers. It looks so pretty with the mirror above it. That lamp is beautiful. Adding the flowers is a perfect addition.
ReplyDeleteThat chest is gorgeous. The vignette looks very beautiful. It all looks great Liz.

You have some special wood furniture pieces. I love the two different colors of wood used together in this chest and also on the striped one. Nice grouping on the top. I like how you used the pieces that you chose. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Liz, and it looks warm and welcoming, too. I really like your lamp, and I love the little painting! That one's a classic, and it's so pretty the way you've displayed it on the easel. That picture reminds me of our son; his hair was about that color when he was young. :) This is a great time of year to move things around and get a fresh, new look.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week!

I like the modernity of the mirror paired with the classicism of the chest. A great way to create a new feel, particularly after the holidays when everything suddenly seems so bare.

Lovely vignette on your chest, Liz. I've seen that picture of the little boy and his dog before--darling. So pretty with your gold accents on the chest. I love that lamp--such a lovely shape. I've been looking for new lamps for our living room. They are hard to find! Your chair I see peeking to the side is quite handsome as well. ♥
ReplyDeletePerfect display.
ReplyDeleteDo you happen to know the name of the artist/painting? I have a larger print that is fading and I'd like to replace it, but have not been able to track it down.
Thanks, but never mind. I found it. Arthur W. Devis (1762-1822) Entitled "Master James Alexander Simpson")
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get the info on the picture.
