This and That This Week #13

I won't talk politics but we all have to admit we are glad this last election has come to an end- right?
On voting day I found these cookies at the bakery and couldn't resist!

I emptied most everything from the deck.  The pumpkins were getting chewed on by the squirrels and chipmunks and they were showing signs of rotting.
The ones I left are artificial pumpkins but the plants are live.  We still haven't had a killing frost!

We placed them by the trees at the edge of the woods for the critters.
They have already started to eat on them but I didn't take pics.

 I know this is weird but we created this center arrangement to support the tarp since we get so much of a snow load.

 Isn't this gorgeous!  LOL…
We average 150" of snow each winter so we go to drastic measures.

This is our water fountain out back that is now covered and ready for winter.  The park benches will get their own covers too.

I created a post about the topiary christmas trees I created out front of the garage as seen "here".

THEN
I was raided!
 The bandits arrived during the night and made a little mess of things!
Dan is pretty sure the raccoons did this.  These topiaries have about a 5 inch spike that does into the pot and they seemed pretty secure but a raccoon is a lot heavier than a squirrel.  I'm glad we used a lot of tie wraps to hold the greenery on otherwise these would have been a mess!

I tweaked my plate rack and etagere with a Thanksgiving theme as seen "here"!

Then I pulled together a Thanksgiving tablescape in the kitchen as seen "here".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you noticed this year all the decorative items including dishes with an old red truck or ornaments this year?  I will be using this kind of theme in the kitchen dining area this Christmas.  I like my kitchen dining area to be kind of country cozy.
I picked up this truck (50% off at Michael's w/coupon).  I intend to embellish it a bit.  It's about 9" long.
The picture in the living room in the background that is resting against my table is going up on the wall above the tv.  It's a numbered and signed print from Dan's sister who was part of that art show and book I posted about "here".  She gave us the print earlier this year and then we had it framed.  I wasn't even sure where it was going to go but I finally decided it would be nice above the tv.
I received a sales catalog from Pottery Barn and look at this ornament- I was surprised at the likeness it had to my little truck from Michael's.
Have a great weekend!
    1. I know right? Well some of the snow melts so we aren't literally buried in 150" but over the 4 mos. of snow that we get here it adds up!
  3. Liz, 150 inches of snow! WOW! I had no idea. We have bandits coming around also. They can really do some damage. I love your little red truck--so cute. We've not had a killing frost either. It usually happens in October for us. Enjoy your weekend. ♥
  4. I don't suppose you saved me an I VOTED cookie did you? Did you know that iced sugar cookies are my big downfall at Christmas time? lol Is that a TURKEY cookie I spot on your table, too? Oh My!
    I see that you have buttoned up the backyard for winter. I know your winters are as brutal as ours and yet we have had a nice long Fall!
    Everything looks good, Liz!!Hope you have a wonderful weekend. xo Diana
    1. I know what you mean- cookies are my weakness some more than others! Our local bakery makes such delicious cookies! Yes that's a turkey cookie too! We've broken records this year with the warm autumn season. Still haven't had a killing frost!
  5. I would love to share a cookie with you right now. You've been busy getting your yard ready for winter, and I need to get busy, myself. The temps keep dropping, and I'm afraid I'll get caught without faucet covers and the like. I am sorry about the critter attack! They were little imps! Love your Christmas touches. I just got back from Lowe's with a safety ladder (if such a thing truly exists) so I can finish decorating the upper part of the tree. Usually I rush and do things at the last minute, but I couldn't wait to get started this year! I adore the cute, red truck ornaments!
    1. Thank you! I don't much like ladders but having anything ore safety featured is a big plus!
  7. Liz, I couldn't have resisted those cookies, either! Wow, you get a lot of snow and you have lots to do to prepare. We have some resident raccoons, opossums, and of course, deer! Have a joy-filled day! Pam @ Everyday Living
    1. Thank you Pam! The opossums visit out back and sometimes the deer too. Raccoons are so cute but they can be mischievous! We're having a most unusual warm November so far- last year at this time we already had our first snowfalls!
  8. Liz,
    Darn those critters!
    I loved seeing your deck ready to winter ~over . . .
    and then the "help" from your critter friends!
    Looks like something that would happen here on the Prairie, as well!
    Your red Christmas truck is a d o r a b l e!
    I'm so~o~o in the mood for Christmas decorating, dear friend!
    I have a Ladies Circle Meeting on Tuesday evening. . .
    then it's time to pull out my Christmas decor tubs and begin!
    Send some of your enormous amounts of snowfall our way!
    Fondly,
