Living Room Update-Going Down With Carpet

My weekend consisted of prepping for the new carpet install for Monday.  Our friend and his son came by to help and they were also taking the old carpet to their home.

Friday afternoon I started prepping.  I pushed the dining table and chairs as tight to the corner as possible and then I loaded it will all my deco things.

The guys brought the heavy stuff up to the dining and kitchen areas.

It's a little unnerving to see all this clustered together!

They carefully removed staples and nails and were able to save the pad which was in great shape.

Meet my new design team ha ha!

Monday morning the workers arrived around 10:30 and got to work.  The new pads are even better than before with a built in moisture barrier that prevents liquids from getting through.

Mr. Teddy took a liking to the carpet samples when we brought them in.  This is the sample of the one we chose.  It's what they call a cut and loop.  It has all the latest and greatest stain protection, fading and wear guarantee.  I was striving for a little more of a contemporary look but also something that would work with our already traditional decorating.

It seemed like forever to me but they finally started installing the carpet.  There is a 3" pattern match and they fussed with it a bunch to make sure they got it just right.

They were finally done at 4:30.  It's so much lighter and brighter I'm still getting used to it.

I did a panoramic picture which makes the room seem very pale but I did want a neutral coloring so that's what I got!  I've got the furniture back in the room but haven't taken pictures yet.

  2. Beautiful choice Liz, adore the weave. Mr. Teddy looks so cute. It is unnerving when your house is cluttered. Good thing you said you had help with the heavy items, I would have thought your were a body builder to move the Grandfather clock.

  6. Liz, your room is looking lovely and bright. These big jobs always make me feel like we're moving. Years ago we had hardwood put on our first floor and it meant moving everything out of the rooms, including the kitchen. Enjoy your lovely choice in carpet. The pattern is lovely. ♥

  7. I love your new carpet, Liz. We had ours taken out a few years ago but I miss it. It makes the room feel so big and limitless. You can put the furniture anywhere you want and not worry if the rugs can work with a particular layout.
