While I was visiting family for the Mother's Day weekend I cut some little branches of lilacs when we visited my husband's family farm.
I was inspired to use them for a tablescape but they are a tad droopy so I added in some white stems to help support them a bit and it seemed to help improve their look.
I've used these dishes before- they have a little bit of purple in them and I always thought they felt like a garden inspired design even though they were sold at Christmas by Dillards (a few years ago) and are called Sugar Plum by Noble Excellence
The earthy tone of the flower napkin ring with the purple napkin pulled the color and texture together.
This avacado accented tablecloth came from One King's Lane a while back. I tried it on my formal dining table as seen in my previous post "here".
I try to capture the sun in my pictures when I can.
I used the capital riser (I got from the Monticello Shop) under the tin watering can (from Michael's) because I like the way it looks with these dishes. The stemware was a find at T.J.Maxx several years ago.
The lilacs are actually a bit early here in Michigan due to the warmer spring we've been having. I have a lilac topiary tree that is loaded with blooms that should be opening soon!
We are still enjoying the elements of spring up north here. The forsythia just finished blooming and the cherry trees are now bursting with color! I still have tulips and daffodils blooming too. Don't forget to drop by my other blog dedicated to my love for gardening. You can click on the link "here" or at the upper right of my blog anytime!

Liz, your table is gorgeous! As a childhood violet lover, I'm drooling! What a wonderful way you've found to incorporate a favorite color without painting a purple wall or something crazy like that. :-) I've always wished I had lilacs but never got around to planting one. Now we have no acidity to our soil, so they'd never survive in our current yard. Thanks for sharing yours from the farm!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! I love lilacs and wish I could plant a bunch of them. I do have some of my own but I'm still waiting for them to bloom.
DeleteHi Liz, isn't this so pretty!! Lilacs remind me of my mother. Love your table and the lift you've used under your centerpiece. The scent must be beautiful. Love green with purple. Pretty table cloth too. I would love to plant a bush but not sure how well it would do here in Texas. Hydrangeas do okay, so I'm up to trying.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
xo
Beautiful! Sheila

DeleteI can almost smell your lilacs!! They are one of my favorites, but this winter the rabbits had a field day eating the bark and they are not looking too healthy! Pretty table!!
ReplyDeleteBad rabbits!!

Such a pretty table! I love dishes that you can use for more than one occasion. The centerpiece is perfection. Love the watering can vase and the mix of colors. Perfectly cheery!
ReplyDeleteOh, whatever they are called, those plates are just yummy! I love purple and it really is hard to find in plates and housewares. The flowers are beautiful. I missed making a table with the lilacs this year. How quickly the weeks pass!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet message about our anniversary, and congrats on your upcoming one! Wow, time just flies. Guess that means that we are getting up there, unless we got married at 10! Haha!! What a wonderful thing! Many, many more happy years.
Love those dishes you used, your table is just wonderful!

I love your lilacs! I wish we could grow them here in GA but it's too warm. I have to decorate with fake ones. LOL! Our Spring season is almost over here. Our forsythia and cherry trees have already turned green and the flowers are now gone. Your table setting is so pretty in shades of purple and white.
ReplyDeleteOh this is so pretty Liz! love the soft afternoon lighting and those purple napkins just bring out the centerpiece beautifully!
ReplyDeleteJenna
A beautiful table Your centerpiece turned out so pretty, and that tablecloth is gorgeous. I think I may need purple napkins.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! I love the look of the bowls with the capital riser supporting your centerpiece of lilacs, the plates look as if they were made to go with the riser and the napkin rings and the tablecloth too! you used some great choices in your design. I love the shade of purple in the napkins too! My lilac is almost in full bloom, I think later this week I will fill a vase with the flowers and maybe set a table to go with the lilacs! I think I have been inspired by your lovely table...... Candy
