Flying Pigs?
It all started here with this one... I just can't help but find humor in the term "when pigs fly" and I love the optimism that when pigs fly anything can happen!
This one was gifted to me from my sister Jen- I've kept in indoors
This is my newest from Hobby Lobby- too cute!
So I decided this little trike planter needed to be brightened up. I saw a picture on Celestina Marie's- Southern Day Dreams blog "here" with a red bike she had painted and added to her back garden. I liked how the color popped and decided I wanted this little guy to stand out better. Before it got painted a scotch-brite pad was used to clean up the tiled surfaces and some light sanding to remove rust and prepare for painting.
Dan is my painter- he's more patient than me and has a vast background in painting...farm tractors, cars, motorcycles, and at a factory that painted parts for army tanks in Detroit back in 1967 -$1.68 per hr- woo hoo. Can you imagine!
I chose blue- and boy did it change it's looks!
So here's my Lit'l Blue trike!
I am bummed that I couldn't get a picture I with the sun shining because once again we are under heavy cloud cover. It's going to rain in a bit.
I played with the picture on BeFunky.com and chose the "underpainting 2" option after I lightened up the picture a tad. I like the way it made the flowers look painted!

Thank you Kathryn!
Love it! Great touch of fun!
ReplyDeleteL-O-V-E it in blue! I liked it in its original state, but LOVE it with the bright blue paint! I wish Ramon enjoyed painting. I'd be dangerous around here!!! :-) But I imagine painting will not interest him until pigs actually DO fly!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, Love your flying pigs and your newest cutie from HL is adorable. Your bike in blue is gorgeous. It really stands out and such a wonderful piece on your deck.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what a little color in the garden can do. Thank you for the mention. You are too sweet!!
Have a great day my friend.
Hugs
1) Where did you get that trike? I want one, it is so adorable!!
ReplyDelete2) You obviously have a green thumb! You're garden is heavenly!! What type of flower is that in the bucket on the trike?
You are very talented and have an eye for beauty, thanks for sharing :) -Bev
Liz, your pig on the newly painted tricycle with the plant (love alyssum!) is adorable!
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute! Loving your flying pig collection......and your newest addition looks adorable on the little trike planter all spruced up in blue, so perfect on the summer deck :) Happy Summer, Liz! ~hugs, Poppy
ReplyDeleteLiz,
ReplyDeleteI adore how the "flying Pig" is at the helm of the trike!!!
One can almost envision the wind blowing through its face and "hair".
(Do pigs have "hair"???)
Just adorable!!!
Fondly,
Pat
What a cute collection. Flying pigs, how fun. The blue tricycle is darling, add so much color to your deck. Everything looks so pretty. your gardens are really looking good.
ReplyDeleteThat little bike is adorable, Liz! I just love it and I love that you refreshed it with a new color. The blue makes it stand out more.
ReplyDeleteFlying pigs, bike riding pigs...they're all so darn cute, as is that adorable newly painted blue tricycle!! That's the exact color I want to paint my now too shabby to be chic, folding deck chairs! The flowers fill it in so prettily!
ReplyDeletePoppy
Such an adorable blue bike tricycle, glad you add your pig. He is so cute.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! (Your painter did a good job.) And the flying pigs are just so charming :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous trike! So adorable! I almost bought one similar at Ross, left it, someone beat me to it, haven't seen one since. Bummer! Wow. $1.68 per hour. Times have certainly changed. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the humor of the little flying piggies.
The pigs are too cute! The new paint really brightened the bike up. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
