I think I'm becoming Old MacDonald!
A couple of weekends ago I found this Dairy/Fresh Milk container that I couldn't walk away from. It's actually ceramic but they did such a god job on the finish it appears to be rusted metal. I potted it up with Petunias and some Creeping Jenny to add to the country/farm look. The rooster was in another spot on the deck but it finally dawned on me to merge the rooster with the dairy/cow planter and create a little farm scene. My husband was raised on a dairy farm so the Dairy part has special significance.
The hat has been with me for a long time....perhaps late 90's early 2000's.
It was on a wall in the bathroom when I had a garden theme going on in there and since the room had been remodeled it never went back in. I decided to try it on the rooster and ended up liking it.
You'd think I was a farmer being up so early- I decided to take some pictures out back by the fountain which Dan finally got running this past weekend.
I was outside around 6:30 a.m. taking these. I like catching the early morning sun as it briefly comes in across the back. It was a very cool morning- only 45 degrees.
I'm pleased that the impatiens have already started to expand in size. It will be fun to watch them progress.
Dan spent most of Saturday cleaning up the patio stones that had a lot of little grass and weeds growing up in between. He got the water fountain going for the first time this year. I guess we need a new pump but he tinkered with this one and got it to finally run.
Sunrise....a beautiful thing!
I call this my Hosta Hill. The hostas are still filling in...it's been a slow spring.
I was about ready to light the fire because it was so chilly!
If you'd like to read a little story on how we created this fountain area please click "here" which will take you to my little garden blog.
Like I said Old MacDonald! Who let these guys out! LOL...
We are visited regularly by Wild Turkeys
The Tom was displaying his feathers but he was quick to retract when he heard me. They have excellent hearing much to my dismay!
I have more to do outside- it never ends!
Oh yeah, I forgot this new acquisition! The plaque with the cows is going on the wall by my kitchen table. I couldn't resist it! I think I'll stay indoors and get it hung while it warms up out there.
Liz,

Ah, love that milk container!! And the wild turkey roaming through your garden. We have them here too, but with dogs who are occasionally out and about, they don't come that close.

Liz, I just love this area of your garden. The wide stone pathway and fountain are so pretty, and it reminds me of a peaceful garden on an English estate. Even Tom Turkey looks like part of the estate! Great milk can. I did think t was metal. laurie
