Roses, Wine, Chocolates, and the color Red
all speak Valentine's Day to me!
In Sept. 2010 I created this rose and artichoke topiary which I blogged about "here" I pulled it out of storage and pinned these red hearts onto it for my Valentine's centerpiece.
Last year I picked up these Juliska heart shaped dishes on a sale. The fleur-de-lis glass plates came from Dillard's during one of their clearance sales and the red & green tartan dishes were on clearance at Cracker Barrel in December.
I definitely didn't imagine using them for a Valentine's table, but they gave me the kind of countryesque look I wanted.
I saw this sweet Love Letter Pocket bag made by Kathy's Creative Home Expressions blog. I visited her Etsy page and had to have it. I tied it to the chair and added some roses.
I've set out this sweet port style wine which is lovely paired with appetizers or desserts such as chocolates or brownies.
I elevated the topiary and added a lace doily.
The napkins are covered in hearts and I chose to set them in the stemware for added height.
I added these little birds to represent "love birds"

ReplyDeleteVery romantic, Liz!
ReplyDeleteLiz, I love the addition of the plaid plates! And the heart-shaped Juliska plates are gorgeous. I really like your centerpiece, too. I enjoyed reading how all the elements came together so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWell you had me with the darling topiary Liz, the setting is perfect. Do you have Dillard's up your way? Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGet OUTTA here!!! That runner is from Hobby Lobby??!?!!! So cute!!! I didn't see those at any of the Hobby Lobby stores here. What a neat addition to pull your centerpiece together!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the topiary! Pinning those hearts to it gives it an entirely new look without permanently changing it...a trait I just LOVE in decorating! I also really like that capital it's sitting on. I need to get my hips to an architectural store and get a couple of those!
I really like that sweet pocket bag!!! What a great idea to fill it with roses! That REALLY looks like something from "Little Women"!!! Love it!
Hi Liz! Oh, the topiary is gorgeous and the little hearts look pretty on it too. You have the knack! :) The little bag is darling and the roses are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for popping in to see me and your kind comments.
