The Den is Done

Last August I did a post explaining how we had helped our daughter with moving into her new rental house.  She was moving into a home that was large enough to be able to use her bedroom furniture so this room got emptied.  That post can be seen "here".

I had updated the bedroom in 2012 and posted about "here" .

 Our bedrooms are small.  It was a tight fight but we did it!  The feet had to come off and we had to carefully (persuade) maneuver the sections through the door opening and they were heavy.

The tv also came from the family room. We ended up mounting it on the wall even though I had a cabinet for it, but we couldn't fit it in.
I want to remove the little chair rail  piece we added about 20 yrs. ago, but when we did it in the other bedroom it took a lot of drywall patching and I wasn't prepared to go to that length just yet.  We can't run the cable through the wall because below this room is a finished basement area with drywall.  

My handy husband found these flexible plastic strips to cover up the cable and electric cord and then painted them to match the wall.  (They are found in the electrical section at the stores)  He pre-painted them before he put them up. 
Thank goodness we saved the leftover paint!

This storage box was part of my nautical room downstairs and I thought I'd give it a try as base for a coffee table.  I had a round piece of glass I was going to put on top but I never got around to it.

This coffee table is actually a bench.  It's low and fits well next to the sectional. 

Eventually we hope to replace this old carpet too.

The storage box ended up in this little spot by the closet.  I have an inflatable bed for extra guests and it fit nicely in the box except it was too tall so I draped the 

afghan over it.  We used it once already.  I just slid the coffee table over to the closet and the bed fit next to the sectional  perfectly.

The afghan and the two inner pillows were part of the bedroom setup before.

 This picture was a find at a store going out of business about 3 to 4  yrs. ago and was still wrapped in the paper I brought it home in.  I hadn't been able to find a spot for it until I converted this room.  The color of the 2nd matting nearly matches the wall color which I found interesting.   

There was no name or info so I did some lighthouse research and figured out it is the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse located in Pemaquid Point, ME

It's not a normal perspective that you see of that lighthouse so it took me a bit to figure it out.

 I had recently taken these sconces down that were by my china cabinet and I decided to give them a try next to this picture.  I found some dried grasses I had in storage to add to them.  I thought about antiquing them in white but I chickened out in case I ever want to use them in a different setting and the white might not be what I'd want.

This pillow is from Pottery Barn from several years back.  I think it's one of those indoor/outdoor ones.  I always liked the scene on it.

This table also came up from the downstairs family room.  The two bronze cranes came from Bombay back in the day before they closed.  I made up the glass hurricane with the seashells and rope and blogged about it "here"

The lamp stayed with the room after we moved the bedroom furniture out.

It ended up in this tray below as a tabletop accent. The kitty and the textured candle holder were part of the old bedroom set up too!

It's hard to get a full picture of this room.  I'm in  the hallway taking these.  It's only about 11'6" in length by 9' wide

My goal was to use as many things that I already had.   A couple of things 
were purchased but overall I did achieve my goal.  
So there you have it- The Den is Done!
