I wanted to use my large basket as a centerpiece for dining. In September I blogged about the basket "here"
I came across this tablecloth while out on
a recent trip that I blogged about "here"
The moment I saw it I knew it would be
great with the fall basket
The cloth is by April Cornell and it's called "In Full Bloom"
Orange, Rust, Pale Gold on Smoke is how it's described on the web site.
There is some teal mixed in (have you noticed how much teal is out there in everything from clothing to furniture this year?
I chose these pale blue fleur de lis accented salad plates to play off of the rust dinner plates. Keeping the tone of the table casual and farm like was my goal.
I mixed these blue goblets with the Napoleonic Bee Wine Glasses for color and theme
I played up the angles a bit
The plain rust napkin became a focal point. The creamy white flatware was chosen to play off the bowl which also has the fleur de lis symbol in the center.
This is only a 52 x 52 tablecloth but I chose the size to be an accent on the table rather than a size that would cover the whole table.
I lit the candles. The farm wire candle votives
were from Pottery Barn a few years back. I first
used these in 2011 in a post "here"
Glass candle votive from Pier 1
2 or 3 yrs. ago
I had some "ocean" scented teal votives I
worked in
Breakfast or Dinner
I never thought I'd get away with adding some blue but it seems to be ok! Lucky that Ms. April Cornell was smart enough to also include some olives and yellows in her design which works real well for me!

ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Let's Dish.
Hi Liz, I always like blue and orange together! I think that touch of blue really works in your room. And I love the idea of using the square tablecloth on the diagonal of a rectangular table. I can definitely use that idea for my kitchen table so thanks for the inspiration! Linda
ReplyDeleteThis is magnificent. I love the April Cornell cloth and how you've set the table about it. Just lovely.

Your home and table are both beautiful. That tablecloth was a wonderful find. You've incorporated colors together soooo well that I hadn't considered as fall colors, per say, but work absolutely wonderfully together. Bravo for showing me something different to consider for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteThis table is gorgeous! I love your tablecloth and the way you carried out the color scheme.
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo pretty Liz! Love the oranges with the soft blue and those goblets are gorgeous! Very clever way you used the cloth and the flatware on the diagonal, really nice! Centerpiece basket is wow too!

Hi Liz, your table setting is awesome. what time is Dinner? Christine from Little BRags
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tablecloth...your dishes really complement it. Lovely centerpiece, too, Liz.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week...
Beautiful! You did a wonderful job making the most of that gorgeous tablecloth, I love the mix of colors you used in your place setting. Well done :)
ReplyDeleteI Love Teal. It's no longer Ocean Blue (which we left behind on Summer) and it's not Gray (which we'll meet and welcome ahead on Winter). And I love each and all the accents you used. Absolutely adorable the way you displayed the tablecloth on the table... At first I thought it was a shawl you had adapted - is that goegeous.
ReplyDeleteGreat findings and amazing creation!
Happy Fall!!!
It's funny how certain things hit us when we look at tablescapes, and I have to admit that the chicken wire votives just knocked my socks off. Little details all combine together to make a gorgeous whole -- and you can't go wrong with April Cornell!
ReplyDeleteThis is just fabulous, Liz. The combination of colors you were able to pull from the cloth is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe basket is bountiful and over flowing, just as it should be for this holiday season. Love it!
Hugs,
Patti

I am so glad to see your new tablecloth in action! I like how you have it laid out on your rectangular table - I will have to remember that layout! This is a lovely tablescape and the centerpiece is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY remember this basket and how one little pinch in the middle made all the difference!!! I'm glad to see it back here for its 2013 debut!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty table cover!!!!!!! I love the colors, and yes...I have noticed that teal is really out there front & center this year. What's up with that? Good for all the teal lovers...me included! :-) I love the pumpkin color matched with it on your tablescape. It looks like a very modern fall in Traverse City!
LOVE the chicken wire-covered votives!!!!! What a neat thing! I'll bet you and I could make some of those on our own. OK...maybe just YOU could! :-) I'm not all that handy OR smart!!! :-)
Wow! What a stunning tablescape. Love the April Cornell tablecloth. The shade of blue and orange is very rich together. Your basket of flowers is cheerful and bright. The dishes, glassware, and napkin are the perfect table setting. I am going to look for this tablecloth on AC website. I hope it's still available.
