Last March I ordered this mercury glass and
metal lantern from One King's Lane.
My
vision was to use it outside, but that never happened. It ended up in
hanging around in my office. I walked in there the other day while I was starting my
fall decorating and thought what the heck, let's see what I can do with
it.
I clustered some fall picks together, added some straw like material and set them down inside the lantern. For now it's a vase!
As you can see I tied a ribbon to the handle. It added some color and I think it looks pretty.
The mercury glass part has a puffy quilted design. I would love to have ordered a half dozen to use outside but that wasn't in the budget.
I have to keep it pushed back a bit so hubby
can see the tv off to the right. I was experimenting with this plate. I thought the animal print would be a nice texture to add.
LOL I just realized I have the paint samples on this corner wall too! We have a gal that was going to paint for us but she fell and broke her leg in June. We've been waiting for her to recover. It's a big room with high walls and ceiling. This gal and her helper make it look so easy and she's very reasonable. I'll wait until November if I have to, but it has to be done before Christmas! I do have patience when I need it!
I found this mercury glass pumpkin in my stash so I decided to swap it out for the plate.

I found a container with pot-pourri that was in storage downstairs. I decided to load it into this metal cache pot that I got in July. It smells divine. I decided to try the candelabras here vs. the dining table and I like it.
I'm still working on my outside deck area and in front of the garage.
This weekend I hope to get some pumpkins and gourds! This is a hint of what I'm up to. Oh yeah it's been raining on and off for several days.
I just love your fall touches! And so smart to use the lantern as a vase. It's like it was meant to be!

Looking good, Liz! We are getting some much needed rain; and the temps are in the upper 70's today. Perfect for Fall decorating! Love your deck area every year! You always decorate it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteYour lantern/vase looks great. Don't you just love multi-functional pieces? Looks like you have a good start on your Fall decorating...and going pumpkin hunting this weekend, too. The basket on your dining table looks so pretty. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletevery pretty Liz! Love it. My Fall things are still in the Fall bins in the basement as it's still too warm here. I think I'll turn down the AC and put on a sweater so I can get in the Fall decorating spirit!
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous, Liz! I'd never heard of mercury glass before.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful and I think the mercury glass looks better. I do adore the tall candlestick on the table.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty with your Fall touches. Love the mercury glass pumpkin. Looks like your house is pretty much decorated for Fall. I know you will be happy when the painting is over. I agree with Betty, those tall candlesticks are gorgeous on your table.
ReplyDeleteLiz I am a huge fan of mercury glass and this vase is just stunning. I want one and would love for them to bring them back, doubtful, sigh! Your house is always beautiful and what you have done for fall is perfection.
