A while back I posted about these planters that gave me an idea for my own metal planters.
I found some coco fiber liners for them and
potted them up!
I also had Dan spray paint them to look like a
natural metal color
I used some plastic to prevent them from drying
out too fast and poked lots of holes in it for drainage.
I have both of them flanking the back door slider.
I did cheat and planted some plastic flowers in
this galvanized container so I don't have to get the
glass top wet all the time!
A quick shot of the back area. It's growing like crazy.
My old Italian clay pottery pieces came
out this year and I potted them up with
some new geraniums. (I need to collect my
plant labels so I can remember the names
of everything I planted)!
I poked some garden stakes in them too!
Notice the lovely oak tassels laced throughout my
flowers! Grrr... the trees have been dropping them
like rain for several days.
I found this little bike planter at Hobby Lobby on sale
for $25 so I grabbed it because our local garden centers
were much more pricey.
If you've followed me through the past few years you
have seen these pots used before. In about a month the
flowers should be filling in much nicer!
I did buy this one all planted. I couldn't resist it and
it's growing like crazy. I might snip off some of that Creeping Jenny plant and get it to root and plant them in
my new planters to add some dressing!
Out back
My cement planters are just starting to come along. Do you like my finger in the corner! I used my iPhone for some of these pics and I keep sticking my finger in the wrong place!
Did I mention that the ferns have gone crazy this year?
Well they have! Up by the house they are growing in leaps as well as back by the fountain area.
They don't like to get dried out in the summer, but other than that I don't do anything special for them. These have tripled out by the fountain area in the past few years.
These are off the deck by the house. They look quite spectacular right now! We've had plenty of rain recently and they're loving it.
The side of the garage is doing well. I went heavy in pink this year! The white lattice pieces came out but I don't have a plant for it yet. I should work on that!
My favorite shot the other day (even with the messy oak stuff). The Sweet Woodruff spreads and moves about nicely. I decided on wax begonias this year since I'm avoiding impatience plants. My hosts are still filling out.
What a great time of the year!

What a great time of the year!
We're still organizing and pulling things out.
We're in turtle gear this year!
Thanks for visiting!

Gosh, Liz, I just love seeing your gardens and plants this time of year! Everything is beautiful, as always. You really did a great job on your pots; and the ferns are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBonjour,
Thank-you for your kind words! I used a translator to be able to understand. I hope the rain slows down and it warms up for you.
DeleteEverything looks fantastic there. Love your planters, you are very creative and make the most of them.
ReplyDeleteCher Sunray Gardens
Exciting times in the garden just now. Yours looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt's all looking great! The begonias will be pretty where you had all your impatiens. Happy gardening!
ReplyDeleteEverything is looking great in your garden! I adore the the Sweet Woodruff.
ReplyDeleteOh Liz, your yard is beautiful and your pics are so colorful. I love whimsy in the yard and it was fun to see all your pretty things. The ferns are spectacular!!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteVisiting via Liz's party, and so glad I found your beautiful blog! What a lovely, lush landscape you live in! All that abundance of green in the ferns, grass, trees...so fresh and revitalizing! Love your cement planters for their colour and texture and that hanging bouquet is BREATHTAKING, despite it being bought!!:)

Wow! All I can say is WOW! You have such a beautiful garden! I can almost smell the green! Everything looks so healthy and Lovely. Thank you for sharing at Fresh-Cut Friday! :) I'm so glad you did!

I love your planters. They're inspiring me because I still haven't planted our containers yet (we've been out of town quite a lot). I've bookmarked this post, and I'll be pinning photos from it to my container board on Pinterest.

WpW! I'm over from Rose Vignettes' Fresh Cut Friday, and visiting other flower lovers, and this is absolutely totally gorgeous! So many people are having lots of growth and ''crazy'' growing flowers and I'm still waiting for seedlings to grow....I may have to cheat and buy some planters already filled, but this post is loaded with beautiful things!
ReplyDeleteI'm in turtle motion too this year!
ReplyDeleteYour containers are gorgeous! So are your gardens. Absolutely love all your ferns!! I can't grow them worth beans here. You must be in a cooler climate! LOL we just need mother nature to mix them both together! I tried Sweet Woodruff twice, and failed both times. Does it smell as good as they say it does? I wanted it to so badly to cover the ground under the front arbor. Oh well, maybe I'll try again ;)
Take care
*hugs*deb
Wow everything is growing in so well...my yard is mess of weeds and turtle would be fast compared to my speed right now.
ReplyDeleteYour yard and flowers look fabulous...and not a weed insight. Love your header with the hosta garden and Hakonechloa grass. I bought a pot of it two years ago, but it died :(..guess it was the awful summers we had. Yours looks great. Now you have me wanting to move the rest of my hostas into the pine island. Yours look sooo good.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is beautiful! I really enjoyed my morning visit today.
ReplyDeleteOh your garden is gorgeous! So many pretties to look at...love the views from the house looking into the forest and then the photo with the japanese maple looking back towards your home...just beautiful!!
