Wishing everyone a great Memorial Weekend!
A simple patriotic table for two.
Patriotic and picnic like
I selected flowers and branches for filler from my yard and garden to create my centerpiece.
Tulips, daffodils, and cherry tree blossoms
These gorgeous red tulips resemble roses in their depth of color and shape
The sun came out long enough for me to snap a few shots in between the rainy weather we're having right now.
This tall handled pitcher is made of tin and decorated with berries. I wanted to suggest a picnic atmosphere with fruit and vegetables.
I have two narrow glasses inside of the pitcher. One is upside down to support the 2nd one that is resting on it to hold the flowers. I didn't trust that the tin would hold the water and I needed to create a way to get the flowers up higher.
These Homer Laughlin diner style plates added to the patriotic picnic feeling I wanted. The checkered design is repeated in the napkins and a tablecloth underneath.
I criss crossed two square tablecloths since
they were the only thing I had that suited
my theme.
The corn on the cob dish added a splash of color and helps suggest a classic picnic food item!
I added a little sparkle to the napkins
I can carry this theme outdoors if the weather permits on
Memorial Day
Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a
great Memorial Day!

You always make well-thought of and beautiful tablescapes Liz! This one is no exceptiong - love the sparkle you added on the napkins the most! They kinda remind me of fireworks and would also work great for a 4th of July set-up dont you think?! Love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Liz. Love the plates!
ReplyDeleteSuch a patriotic table for two from the flags in your beautiful centerpiece, the red plaid under cloth and white cloth on top. Each of your two placesettings are perfect for Memorial Day. We are all so heartbroken again by the tornadoes in Oklahoma and the loss of lives.
ReplyDeleteLiz, you come up with the cutest idea's! Looks nice.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty table! I love the dishes, they're so perfect for the patriotic theme and that long pitcher is awesome! I'm so sad about the tornado in Oklahoma. Prayers for the families who lost dear ones and for the injured.

A picnic is perfect for Memorial Day. I remember going around to all the country cemeteries with my grandparents, decorating with flowers from Granny's gardens. After the graves were decorated we always had a picnic.
ReplyDeleteYour table is beautiful, Liz!
Beautiful patriotic table. Your linens and dishes are perfect for this occasion. Love the shots with the sun streaming in.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend......Sarah
I love how you crisscrossed the two table cloths, Liz! The checkered dishes are perfect for your patriotic table and I love the centerpiece.
ReplyDeleteDearest Liz,
ReplyDeleteVery pretty table setting and I love the two tablecloths used the way you did.
Yes, coming from the Old World, we are forever grateful for those brave Americans that came to liberate us. Sadly the younger generations are not even aware of the full meaning of FREEDOM!
Hugs to you and Happy Memorial Day to you and yours,
Mariette
The patriotic table is perfect with the tall handled pitcher with the lovely blooms. I like your checked china and the table linens. Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day and many prayers for all the fallen soldiers!

ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
I want to come and have a picnic at your table!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the sunlight popped in to make your setting even more stunning.
Blessings!!
Hi there, Liz! I know that this is a table we can all enjoy for years to come! I love the way you put it together!!! It's patriotic, and still it is able to reveal its feminine side without hesitation. What a great idea for displaying the flowers in the pitcher!!!! I'll have to try that! The flowers you put in the pitcher are A-1!!! You are the gardener we all WISH we were!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the layered linens on the table as well as the layered dishes. Super duper eye candy!!! It's so cool that you used the rattan charger just barely peeking out from under the gorgeous white charger. That really lends depth, color, and texture. SO pretty!!!
You created a table that would make any American proud, Liz! I hope you and Dan have a safe and joyous weekend in celebration of the lives given in defense of our great country. Your tablescape sure makes the grade!!!
Beautiful table, Liz. Gorgeous flowers, especially those tulips.
ReplyDeleteThe corn dish would look great in my corn-y collection!
What a beautiful and thoughtful table. A perfect Patriotic tablescape. I love how you used the centerpiece.

Liz, I really like how you used the tablecloths together. Also, the centerpiece is lovely and the napkin rings almost look like fireworks on your table!! Have a wonderful holiday.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide what my favorite part is. It's between the place setting itself and that wonderful centerpiece. I need to remember the concept of a tall thin one when I'm setting a table, especially a table for two. It looks fantastic. Those plates are perfect for your Memorial Day picnic feeling just as you planned. Perfect. I also love the layered tablecloth look.
ReplyDeleteAll together, it's just plain lovely. My favorite photo is the fifth one down with the sun on the napkin. That's beautiful!
Liz, I love that tall, tin pitcher. Your flowers look so pretty in it. I also love checks. They just make me happy. Between your plates and your napkins, this post is making me very happy. Have a great holiday weekend. laurie
ReplyDeleteLiz, this is an amazing tablescape. So pretty! Love the centerpiece! The napkins and holders are perfect. Happy Memorial Day!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the prayers this week. We feel covered by them. The attitude of the people in Moore is completely inspiring. Your patriotic tablescape is beautifully done. I particularly like the tall white pitcher. It somehow reminds me of a soldier standing tall and at attention. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteYour patriotic table for two is wonderful! How special to go to that much work for the two of you! I must do that more often.

Oh Liz, those tulips took my breath. They are gorgeous! Your table looks so patriotic, and I love those glasses with the little cherries on them. Well done! My husband won the election, and I will get back to blogging soon. Thank you for sticking with me. laurie
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful table. Love your tablecloths and your napkins! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteTotally worth a 2nd go round! I'm glad you reposted this because it gives me another look at that terrific TALL pitcher. I think my friend just gave me a serving tray that has a very similar design. The tray has strawberries and blackberries that are actually kinda blue in color. I think you have blueberries on that pitcher, but still...they're kissin' cousins!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz! Your table is so lovely and your flowers in the centerpiece are just so gorgeous! I love the red tulips and cherry blossoms. Wishing you a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and thanks for popping in to see me.

I love the centerpiece Liz, and the whole feeling you've created with the layered cloths and vintage tin pitcher~the napkin rings are really a cute pop on top of the red white and blue plate stack!

Hi Liz! Thanks for popping in to see The Little House! Yes it'll be easy to keep clean and yes, the houses are different in New York but where my daughter lives the prices aren't that bad! Hope you're having a great Memorial Day weekend.
