For the first time in several years we've had a gentle spring with no severe frosts and my magnolia has had a chance to open it's blooms and they aren't marred with brown edges!
What a nice start and many blooms to go!
Such a soft delicate pink...
You can smell them as you approach too!
Swoon....

Hi Liz
ReplyDeleteYour magnolia is gorgeous too!! My tree is probably as old as the house (75+ years), so it's an oldie but goodie. You're so right about this being a better spring for the magnolias. Last year mine literally froze on the tree - all brown mush and now blooms. So happy that our trees are doing better this year.
This magnolia is gorgeous, Liz! I would love a tree like this, but no space! xo
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean. Our magnolia bloomed last Friday, and the perfume was intoxicating! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMagnolificent.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous Magnolia. You're so lucky, I just can't seem to grow them here. I've tried Susan, Stellata and one other and all of them died. I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of smelling them.
ReplyDeleteLinda
That is absolutely stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your tree... do you know the cultivar? I've also posted on magnolias this week and and a great many in bloom just now... one of my favorite tees for sure! Larry
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I wish I had room for one in my yard, the flowers are so beautiful on them.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs,

Even though I don't grow these I do adore the flowers!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful
ReplyDeleteYour magnolia blooms are gorgeous Liz! I took some photos of mine too, but haven't had a chance to download them. A cold night will effect those tender blooms! Enjoy them before they start to fade.
ReplyDeleteWhen I redo my gardens - now they're yards but I'm hoping to transform them into lovely gardens, for which I'll be bothering you with requests of advices - I'll have one of these trees.
ReplyDeleteIn my garden - the one I managed at the end of the yard after killing and destroying mamute weeds and nettles - I planted one Magnolia Tree (a Mother's Day Gift a few years ago :sweet:) but it's from a different specie than this one. It gives huge flowers in a striking and lovely white. I've seen some American blogs decorating with the leaves so I imagine you have it too in your Country.
But I love this one so I'm definetly borrowing the beauty and whimsy from one of these to my *new* gardens.
