It was a typical dreary winter day- overcast
and gray. The sun came out at the very last part
of the day and stayed bright for about 2 hrs.
Just before sunset while I was sitting at my desk
my curtains were aglow and turned a dazzling
gold color!
I moved as quickly as I could to capture this.
I felt lucky to have gotten this shot because only moments later
it looked like this...
and then back to normal...
It was one of those moments
where we always say "I wish I had my camera"
but in this case I actually did! I keep it parked
on my desk so it wasn't far away!

An old treasured piece revived.
I forgot about this table that is made up of three elephant heads and
has one drawer. It was from Bombay furniture back in 2006.
I had it in storage and forgot all about it.
I think it's a good fit with my well traveled home
theme I've been playing with lately.
I also landed on some goodies while on recent shopping adventure.
The "stuff" tray is made of glass and has a hint of
green in it with a antique gold edge.
The frame had this neat antiqued detailing to it
and again that touch of green.
Forget Paris? Not me!! I found a set of
three of these faux books and took the middle
sized one. It has this wonderful aged finish
on it that I couldn't resist.
I haven't decided for certain where everything is
going but I know some of it is going on my desk.
I'll be back next week to show you what
I did with evertything.
The same store that I found my goodies at had this
made up chandelier that I have to share...
Isn't it funny! I could see this in someone's
craft shop. It looks like they used a wooden
top to a box and created it from there.

What ever happened to Bombay? I loved that place. Your elephant table is great. Have a lovely week.

They have retail stores in Canada only but recently put an on-line retail page. I miss them here too.
DeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteThe photo of your "golden" curtains is amazing! So incredibly beautiful -- looks like they're made from spun gold. I love your treasures! Isn't it sad that Bombay went away? All of my office furniture is from there as well as a collection of blue and white china. I could always find something I liked and at a good price, too.
Have a wonderful week.

Hi Liz,
ReplyDeleteI think your elephant table and new finds are awesome. You've got some great pieces to create the well travelled look you're going for. Your curtains look amazing in the late afternoon glow. Great pic!

Isn't it amazing how sunlight makes all the difference in the world? How pretty!!! And good for you rediscovering your elephant head table! It's PERFECT for your theme!!! I miss Bombay Co. with a passion. I know we can still go online, but that's not the same. I like to see, touch, smell and experience stuff before I buy it! They always had such cool, fun stuff! LOVE the Paris book!!!!!! That's really neat! It's like you were digging around in some old Parisian apartment and found it in a box in a closet...forgotten....full of treasures. Neat!
ReplyDeleteThe golden curtains are so pretty. It's great how you captured that moment. Love your elephant table. The study looks so cozy. Bombay is missed. I always found something cool there.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great post! I LOVE that table. I think Bombay is gone now? I loved their stuff. Your attention to detail in putting it all together is great- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by my blog. The sun on your curtains is absolutely lovely. All shimmery. Hope that you have a great week.

Liz,
ReplyDeleteThe radiant hue of your curtains is mesmerizing, dear one!!!
Love all of your great finds!!! That green frame is calling MY name! Ha!
I'll return to see where those all found homes in some of your lovely vignettes!!!
Fondly,
Pat
So glad you caught that "golden" moment, Liz. Beautiful. And that elephant table is fabulous. It would work well in my living room ;-) xo
ReplyDeleteLove the shine of the drapes, so pretty. They truly do create such a gold glow. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love the light on the curtains and how they shimmer, Liz!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture of your curtains. Love that frame too.

Hi Liz! Your spun gold curtains remind me of Rumplestilkins...spinning gold out of straw.
ReplyDeleteI pulled out a flower arrangement from Bombay Company just yesterday to use and was lamenting that they are not around any more (in my area anyway). Thanks for sharing your great finds. I saw your post over at "A Stroll Thru LIfe".
What GORGEOUS photographs of your curtains with the light streaming through. Twilight is my favorite time of day ~ such gorgeous light then.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning photo! It's as if it is alive. Great capture, Liz! I love the table and your vignette!..Christine
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteLovely sunshine, so beautiful and hard to capture at this time of year. Great new finds you have added to your home. The old paint brush light fixture, who would of thought, great idea. Easy to make one for yourself...hang one in the garden made out of old vintage trowels and hand rakes ;0)
All the Best,
Christine
Seriously I thought the curtains were photoshoped or some electronic device.
