After last week's ambitious fall cleanup I brought in
my last roses of the season.
It's a good thing too because after Hurricane Sandy hit we received a share of the storm with lots of rain and wind. The trees are stripped bare and there is a coldness in the air now- It feels like mid November already.
I took this picture the Monday evening from my office window. I felt a little guilty enjoying such a beautiful sky when I knew how bad it was getting back on the East coast. My heart goes out too all who have been hit by
Such an unbelievable amount of devastation
in such a short time.
Just goes to show you when it comes to nature
we are not in control.
This Friday I am joining Liz @ Rose Vignettes
for Fresh Cut Friday
Queen Elizabeth Grandiflora roses
A bittersweet reflection....last roses of the season
Come in I'll give you...Shelter from the storm
Thanks for visiting!
Liz
Gorgeous roses...we actually had less of the storm in central NY with little rain but the winds howled. It is devastating in NJ, NYC area and coastal CT.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful roses Liz :-) It's so true that enjoying those last blooms is always a bit bittersweet. It's always humbling when mother nature lets us know how little control we actually have....although I'm in England, all of my family is on the east coast New England area, and I'm so thankful they are all safe.
ReplyDeleteLiz, your roses are beautiful. It is just amazing how so much devastation can be going on in one part of the country; and it is absolutely beautiful in others. Praying for all of those affected by the storm.
ReplyDeleteYour roses and the sky are gorgeous, Liz. Beautiful post and Mother Nature sure is in control....Christine
ReplyDeleteThank your for this lovely post, Liz! Your roses are stunning as was they picture of the sky. Praying for all those that have endured the storm. Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Stephanie
What a beautiful post, Liz, just beautiful. I love your new headers, Linda did a fabulous job. Your photos of the roses are amazing, too. xo
ReplyDeleteLovely roses.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post Liz. Your roses re just gorgeous- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of the view from your window, Liz! The other photos...so sad. SO sad!
ReplyDeleteI dearly love the last blooms of the season. We didn't get too much of the storm. The wind did beat my mums up a bit....but some of my summer flowers are still going strong. You just never know. I've planted some mums, pansys and cabbage plants and a bunch of bulbs for spring -- I hate it when there's nothing blooming!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures just take my breath away. Really, they are just gorgeous. The photo of devastation is horrible. You are so right that we are just not in control. I, too, lift the people in the middle of all the destruction from Sandy.
ReplyDeleteThose roses are so lovely at the end of the day! The lighting is perfect. I am still watching the news with all the devastation. I am afraid it is going to get really bad before it gets better.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining in for Fresh-Cut Friday! :)

How lovely your roses are. I hope you are all safe and sound where you are. You have such a beautiful garden,it's a shame when the wind destroys such a lot of the beauty.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and warm congratulations xx
Beautiful Roses..How lucky some of us were not to be hit so hard by Sandy..Our power was only out 2 hrs and only one tree had fallen..we are so blessed...Mother Nature always show us who is boss..and we all know she is..
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are getting to enjoy the last of your roses. They sure are gorgeous! Love your sunset photo. I have been busy putting together care packages for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. My heart goes out to those people who have lost everything. Some still without power.
