Sticking to my guns!

For probably 10 years now
I've been bucking the trend
for the cool metals and
painted wood that
became so popular.
My kitchen with stained hickory cabinets.
I did break down and buy
stainless in my kitchen
but I've stuck to my
guns about liking the
warmer metal tones
everywhere else.
Bathroom sink with Kohler Brass

My fireplace
Tuscan influences were
a natural for me because
of their warm and earthy tones.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~
To me they are classic and
I was thrilled yesterday when
I visited Pier 1 Imports
to find this display!
I knew it would come back and
this is proof positive that it
has!
A blend of organic, contemporary
and classic elements add
warmth to this very white room.
A winning combination of
contemporary and classic
again
This room would never have
the appeal it does without the
warm woods or if the
cool tones of chrome or
stainless were used
Earth tones and warm
accents pull this handsome
room together.
This fresh stylized room
works beautifully with
some gold accents
Finally a punch of color
combined with warm tones
 make quite a statement!
~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm still holding out with
my stained wood throughout
my home.  I'm not giving up
on that either!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Don't get me wrong- there are
times when those cool tones
 are perfect! I believe you
should work with the room
and the look you want to
achieve. Use what works
rather than worrying about
going with the trends!
Thanks for stopping by!
  1. Hi Liz! Your kitchen is so pretty and with nice cabinets you don't need to paint! My home is old and my kitchen cabinets have been bumped and dinged so painting was the trick! :)
    Love the little arch above your fireplace too! ;)
    Thanks for popping in to see me.
    be a sweetie,
    shelia ;)
  2. You can find lots of gold tones out there this year. There's a lot of mixing going on, as well. Ben Moore's paint color of the year Wythe Blue,looks great with gold. I love your kitchen with the Hickory cabinets!
  3. I agree with you, Liz. I love warm tones, they just make me feel so good. Pale and chrome well, just don't do it for me. I can admire it, but I don't want to live with it. (I am still trying to figure out the whole 'antler' thing, I love deer, abhor hunting for sport, but I don't quite get it.) Oh well....xo
    Frankly I believe we should decorate in the manner that we love, not by what fads dictate!
    Keep your wood and your shiny brass if that's what pleases you. Your home is lovely just the way it is-very warm and inviting!
  5. I'm with you, Liz! I like the feel of warm tones in my own home. It's fun to visit other people's homes who go the opposite way, but for the way I live...it's all about the warmth!
  7. Liz, I'm right there with ya. I have the bright brass fixtures in my bathrooms, and I still love them. Your mantle turned out sooo beautiful. The Tuscan look is perfect and you nailed it. I do love contemporary style as well. Whatever floats your boat, right?? --Betsy
  8. Hi Liz, I think you go with whatever makes you happy. We cannot always follow trends.
    The warmth of those colors is very soothing. Your mantel turned out fabulous. Great photos to admire too. Have a great night.....Linda
