Holiday Greetings
everybody!
Today I am featuring a story about my
friend Betty from
Carlsbad, New Mexico.
I featured two stories about Betty
last year and showed her Christmas
decorating (Greetings from Carlsbad
For a couple of years now Betty has been
asked to allow her home to be a part of a
local event called
The Christmas Home Tour
put on by the
"Assistance League of Carlsbad"
and this year she accepted. They
are a non-profit organization that
help with various charities.
* See below for more information
about the Charities supported
On Sunday Dec. 4th the tour
happened and took place during a 5
hour period and hundreds visited her
hour period and hundreds visited her
home. There were 2 other homes
that were also on the tour. For a month
tickets had been sold all over town but
on the day of the event 368 tickets
were sold at the door of her home
alone! Impressive!
She snapped a shot when she
drove by to check at one point.
This street is residential and only a
few cars are usually parked on it at any
one time.
She wasn't home while the tour ran
She felt it was too overwhelming to be
there so she and her daughter

She felt it was too overwhelming to be
there so she and her daughter
toured the other two houses.
There is a person assigned to each
room to keep an eye on everything.
They do have each guest slip on
footies over their shoes so they don't
dirty the floors. Can you imagine that
many people going through your home
in one day!! They told her there was a
line up from the house to the street for
some time!
Betty, her daughter Tracy and
Gaylon, a friend from a local furniture
store all worked steadily to set up the
home for the tour.
Part of the requirements were
to have a Christmas Tree in
each room of the house.
For months Betty was fine tuning
each bedroom and they all looked
like magazine show pieces!
For the past month they have been
going through the house decorating
trees and adding festive holiday
accents everywhere.
I'm going to start with her Foyer, then
her dining room, living room, tv room
and then the bedrooms. I'll just post
them and let you travel through the
home on your own!
Foyer

Dining
The horns are centerd and this custom
built arrangement gracefully swags
off on the right side making for
a very dramatic statement
Her friend Gaylon created this swag and
the centerpiece on the dining table.
Betty owned all the decorations, it
was just gathered and created into
a new design!

Living Room
This is a traditional colonial home
built in the mid 60's and rather
unusual for the Southwest
This room is on the left as you
come in the foyer and the dining
was on your right- a very traditional
floorplan with all the bedrooms upstairs.

and below on the desk

foyer to the back of the house)

The custom built cabinets on the
right came with the house. She's lucky
to have this tremendous storage space
for dishes, stemware and deco goodies!

Now let's head up the stairs
to the 3 bedrooms
The hallway to the upper floor
The Rose Bedroom
The Red bedroom
The Blue Bedroom

And the final area of the home
the Master Bath and Bedroom
which are on the main floor

A wreath above the bed too!
Adorable greenhouse below!
Lots of details went into getting this
home ready for the tour.
Can you imagine having every inch of
your home ready for public display!
I can't! That makes me nervous
just thinking about it!
Brandi and Barney are glad to have their
home back!
I hope you enjoyed the tour!

Thanks so much for sharing this tour, Liz. Your friend's home is beautiful and artfully decorated for Christmas. I would flip out if I knew that many people passed through my home! :) xo
ReplyDeleteJiminy Christmas!!! You had me at "hello!" What a beautiful entry/foyer!!! Very pretty home with very pretty decor! I am super duper jealous that there is space enough in 2 of the smaller bedrooms for full-size trees!!! That is my dream! I did one in my bedroom a long time ago when I lived in a condo with a ton of space in it, but haven't since. Wait....that just gave me a great idea for where to put my tree this year since I haven't found space for it anywhere else in the house! I can deep-six the corner table and chair near the armoire....can't talk anymore...I've got work to do! :-) See ya! Loved the tour!
ReplyDeleteLiz this is gorgeous! I love trees in the bedroom and all of these are just beautiful. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteOh, this would be a dream, to be in a house tour! I would love to do that!!! First I could hire some cleaning ladies to REALLY get my house clean:):) Seriously this home is gorgeous and I appreciate all the work that went into it! All the trees are beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing this, Liz!!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteLiz, you are such a sweet and lovely friend for working so hard to put this together! You did a beautiful post...can't believe we did all of this but, it was for a worthy cause. Thank you, Liz
ReplyDeleteWhat a BEAUTIFUL home!! The decorations are wonderful and I can't even begin to imagine the work and time that went into putting a tree in every room, not to mention the other beautiful arrangements added. I am so in awe!
ReplyDeleteWonderful blog too Liz - you put it together beautifully.
Thank you everyone, for your lovely comments about our home! Now, I just want to sit back and enjoy but, time to shop and next week start baking! Thank You and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThis is all so lovely. Betty sure was a tropper using her house on this tour. Everything is gorgeous. How special to do something like this. You are a wonderful friend Liz for sharing Betty's beautiful home.
