Well, like my last post I found another
lamp at the store that is closing.
I put it in my bathroom and liked it right away,
but it's so small I couldn't find a good way
to hide the cord.
So I thought about it a bunch and I finally
came up with this solution.
I forgot to take pictures before I started to
take this apart, but this is a
painted wooden box.
I took the screws out of the hinges on the top
to separate them because it allowed me to
set it in the corner better this way.
I cut three pieces of styrofoam that I had on
hand, and then I cut a section out in the back
so the extra cord could be tucked inside
to hide it.
I remembered this technique from so many
boxes that I've opened from manufacturers
with cords so neatly tucked away.
I needed to cover the styrofoam, so after a bit of
thought I decided a trip to JoAnn fabrics
was in order. I found this fabric
which reminded me of the lampshade
material and decided to give it a try.
I centered it over the top and used
the skinny end of a comb to tuck
it down and around the sides.
I still have to figure out how to
hide the rest of the cord- I'm
still deciding on how to do that.
I also have tried it with the top of the box turned
around the other way it it looks good too!
I might embellish it a little more, some friends have
suggested some greenery, or some other items
scattered on the surface...
So now I like my Lit'l lamp even more!
Thanks for stopping by!
Very cute Liz! I have a thing for lamps too. I have to stop though because my closets are becoming a liability when opened. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative idea, Liz! Your lamp vignette looks pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love this little lamp! This was a great find, I need something that small for our night tables, (we have), but I'd like smaller ones. Thank you darling Liz for your visit, and your lovely and generous comments, you're so sweet!

It appear my comment was lost or you'll have two of them from me. For some reason google won't let me sign in. Love your lamp and the design on the top of the box is wonderful. It's nice to have a nightlight - I kick something in the dark or blind myself with the light.
